On this day, as we celebrate the coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth, we must remember that she is also our Mother. Our Earthly mothers (mine is now 90 years old), if they do the job God intends them to do, will nurture our bodies, minds and spirits while we are here on Earth. But Mary nurtures our souls and helps us transition from this life to eternal life, thanks to the sacrifice of her Son, Jesus.
Her coronation is remembered in the fifth Glorious mystery of the Rosary and it is believed that the event of her crowning took place shortly after her assumption into Heaven, body and soul.
We owe her a debt of gratitude and praise on this and every day. I can only imagine what it must be like today in Heaven.
