I joined others in our parish community for the “living” rosary, held inside our church in early May. The unique event involved five faith communities within our parish, all joining together in one voice to pray the rosary.
The parish’s Unity Committee organized the evening, inviting groups who speak different languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Filipino, and our Youth Group. Each group participated by standing together and praying one decade of the rosary.

Upon entering the church, the rest of us were given a battery-operated votive candle that represented our petitions. The entire community processed into the church, placed their candles in front of the statue of the Blessed Mother, and then took their seats in the pews.
As I placed my candle among the many, it struck me how many people seek the Virgin Mary’s intercession to our Lord to hear our prayers and answer them.
As the parishioners continued to flow into the church, placing their candles at the foot of the statue of Our Lady, I wondered, How does she do it? How does she hear all of us?
During my entire life I’ve always asked how and why when I don’t understand something. When my husband asked my father for my hand in marriage, my dad said the only thing he wanted my future husband to know, and to be patient with, was my curiosity about so many things. The trait has been both a blessing and a curse for me. In the case of my quest to learn and understand more about the Blessed Mother, and in this case how she hears all of us, I have to remind myself that one day I will have the answers. Not in this life, however.
I am hoping to bring more knowledge about the Virgin Mary to the world, especially during these times when we need her most.
