How to find time for a daily rosary

Twenty minutes, each day. That’s all the Mother of God asks of us. So why is it so hard to find those 20 minutes? Where are my priorities!?

As I looked for tips on making time for this important calling, it’s clear that I’m not the only one who often finds it challenging to stop what I’m doing and respond to the Virgin Mary’s request. (I’m embarrassed to even admit that.)

Listed at the bottom of this post are links to some of the many suggestions for finding the time. Hopefully you will find some tips that work for you.

One thing I find useful is to search for YouTube videos of the rosary being prayed at the site of a Marian apparition. There is a different level of intensity to my prayer when I feel as if I’m at a site where the Virgin Mary once stood.

The video below was recorded at the Lourdes grotto. Praying along with the group gathered there, led by a priest, truly made me feel more connected.

Another tool I’ve found useful is this rosary ring (see image below). Instead of carrying a full beaded rosary, this little ring allows you to drop it easily into your pocket or purse and to pray while on a walk, standing in line, or even lying down. Just rotate the ring, saying a Hail Mary with each prong. It’s also discreet if you’re uncomfortable navigating a full rosary in public.

This is my rosary ring which has 10 prongs. Keep rotating it, saying a Hail Mary on each prong, and you’ll have said one decade. Rotate it five times, and you’ll have said a full rosary. / Photo:@maryshandmaiden

5 tips from Catholic Digest

From Catholic Digest is this suggestion: “…split the Rosary up and pray the various decades throughout the day.”

Catholic Sprouts offers 10 suggestions. I thought #7 was an honest admission that the rosary can be challenging. The writer suggests: “While praying the Rosary, PUSH THROUGH the first few decades. Often it takes a while for us to “settle into” prayer.”

The Catholic Woodworker has several tips including the suggestion to “carry your rosary everywhere.”

A group discussion on Reddit asked people who prayed the rosary regularly what their best techniques are. They included praying along with a rosary podcast while driving. Praying with a specific intention. Praying the rosary out loud. All great suggestions.

If you have a suggestion for our readers on you make time and pray with intention, please post it in the comments.

I am hoping to bring more knowledge about the Virgin Mary to the world, especially during these times when we need her most. Please consider sharing this post, this site, or its social media pages on Facebook and Instagram. I invite you to subscribe to this site (below) to be notified of new posts. Thank you.
