We often hear the question being asked: “If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would that be?”
Easy answer. For me, that person would be the Virgin Mary.
If it’s true, as I state on the homepage of this blog, that Mary is the most important woman who ever lived, she would be my dinner guest. (I would also invite my own mother, who was devoted to Our Lady and who is now deceased, to our dinner.)
As a former journalist, my favorite part of the job was the privilege of gaining access to people with an interesting story–people whom I would otherwise not be able to walk up to and ask them to share. Before every interview I would prepare by compiling a list of questions I believed that readers would want to ask if they had the opportunity.
I googled “Questions for the Virgin Mary” which yielded some interesting results. Most focused on Mary’s life on Earth. People were seeking her answers to questions that have been debated over the centuries. My brother, who interrupted my writing this post, said he would ask Mary if she had any other children.
My questions for her are more philosophical. As the woman God created to launch his plan for the salvation of humanity, my questions are more about her thoughts regarding what’s happening now, and what’s ahead.
Here is what I would ask the Virgin Mary:
1. Wouldn’t it be great if you’d appear again, like you did at Fatima, with the Miracle of the Sun, so that everyone on Earth could see proof you are Queen of Heaven and Earth? Seems like, if salvation is the plan, that would go a long way to converting people. Why not do that?
2. “…and at the hour of our death…” Do you really pray for the souls who are nearing death? If roughly 170,000 people per day died in 2025 (that’s about 7,000 per hour), HOW is that possible?”
3. I’m sure you must pray for those with little faith, but do you marvel at how some people still don’t believe? Your son died and was raised. More than 500 people saw Jesus walking the Earth after he was crucified (Corinthians 15:6). It is baffling to me how that is not enough for nonbelievers. What do you say to those who don’t believe in the resurrection?
4. Where are the souls of the Holy Innocents and their parents who lost them? Surely they are in Heaven? Are the baby boys who were killed at the command of King Herod still babies in Heaven? Or are they now adults?
5. How would things be different if God had waited until now to bring you forth as the mother of Jesus? The world is so different today than it was then. Would you be hesitant, if asked by God today, to say yes to the angel Gabriel?
6. What is the single most important thing we, still living on Earth, can do to earn a place in Heaven?
What would YOU ask the Virgin Mary?
I am hoping to bring more knowledge about the Virgin Mary to the world, especially during these times when we need her most.
